Rose Oil Product Overview
Rose oil (rose otto) is a pale yellow liquid that partly solidifies when cool, steam-distilled from freshly picked Rosa damascena flowers. Several tons of flowers are needed for one kilogram of oil, which explains its very high price. Türkiye, together with Bulgaria, supplies most of the world’s production.
In addition, fine fragrance houses use it in luxury perfumes, and cosmetic producers use it in premium creams, serums and facial oils. Similarly, flavor producers use tiny amounts in confectionery and beverages, and rose water, a by-product of distillation, is used in skin care and foods. Main components include citronellol, geraniol, nerol and phenylethyl alcohol.
