Pharmaceutical-grade Neomycin Sulfate (CAS 1405-10-3, USP/BP/EP) supplied wholesale by Zyntex. Aminoglycoside antibiotic API for topical, ophthalmic, otic and veterinary formulations. CoA and SDS with every lot.
Neomycin sulfate is the sulfate salt of neomycin, a mixture mainly of neomycin B with smaller amounts of neomycin C. It is a white to yellowish-white, hygroscopic powder that is very soluble in water and practically insoluble in ethanol. It is described in the USP, EP and BP, and its strength is expressed as potency.
Because neomycin is poorly absorbed from the gut and skin, it is mainly used in topical, ophthalmic and otic preparations such as creams, ointments and drops, often in combination with Zinc bacitracin and other antibiotics. It is also widely used in veterinary medicine, including oral solutions and feed premixes.
Neomycin belongs to the same aminoglycoside family as Gentamycin Sulfate, Streptomycin Sulfate and amikacin. Zyntex supplies it from qualified API producers with lot-specific documentation, only to companies licensed for pharmaceutical or veterinary use.
