Coffee CO2 Extract Product Overview
Coffee CO2 extract is obtained from roasted coffee beans by supercritical carbon dioxide extraction. It captures the lipophilic aroma fraction of coffee, including roasted, caramel and nutty notes, and contains very little caffeine (typically 0.5% or less), because caffeine is poorly extracted under these conditions. The extract is a dark brown, viscous liquid.
Flavor houses use it to give authentic roasted coffee notes to confectionery, bakery, dairy, ice cream and beverages. Perfumers use it in gourmand fragrances, and cosmetic formulators use it in body care products. Because no organic solvents are used, it suits natural flavor declarations.
