Fexofenadine Hydrochloride Product Overview
Fexofenadine hydrochloride (C32H39NO4·HCl) is a white to off-white crystalline powder that is freely soluble in methanol. It is the active metabolite of the older antihistamine terfenadine, but, unlike terfenadine, it does not cause the related heart rhythm problems, and it hardly enters the brain, so it causes little drowsiness.
In addition, pharmaceutical companies use it in film-coated tablets in several strengths, orally disintegrating tablets and oral suspensions, both on prescription and over the counter. Similarly, it appears in combinations with decongestants such as pseudoephedrine in some markets.
