Pharmaceutical-grade Caffeine Anhydrous (CAS 58-08-2), 98.5–101.5%, supplied wholesale by Zyntex. For colas and energy drinks, analgesic combination products and cosmetic formulations. CoA and SDS with every lot.
Caffeine (C8H10N4O2) is a white, odorless crystalline powder with a bitter taste. It occurs naturally in coffee, tea, cocoa and guarana. Commercial caffeine either comes from decaffeination of coffee and tea or from chemical synthesis. The anhydrous form contains no water of crystallization, so it has a higher caffeine content per gram than the monohydrate.
Beverage producers add caffeine to colas and energy drinks; in the EU, drinks above 150 mg per liter need a specific warning label. Pharmaceutical companies combine it with analgesics such as Ibuprofen and paracetamol, and cosmetic formulators use it in eye creams and body care products.
Because caffeine is a pharmacologically active substance, accurate dosing matters. Buyers should therefore work with lot-specific assay values. For natural caffeine-containing ingredients, see Guarana Extract and Coffee Extract.
