Cyclopentolate Hydrochloride Product Overview
Cyclopentolate hydrochloride (C17H25NO3·HCl) is a white crystalline powder that is very soluble in water. It melts at about 137–141°C.
Ophthalmic producers use it in eye drops that dilate the pupil and temporarily paralyze focusing (cycloplegia), which is needed to measure refractive errors accurately, especially in children. Its effect lasts longer than that of Tropicamide but much shorter than atropine. It is often combined with Phenylephrine Hydrochloride for stronger dilation.
