Description
Barite (Natural Barium Sulfate) (natural barium sulfate mineral, CAS 13462-86-7) is a dense mineral used as a weighting agent in oil and gas drilling fluids and as a filler in paints, plastics, rubber and brake pads. Zyntex is a wholesale supplier and distributor of Turkish Barite as API drilling grade and micronized filler grades, with a CoA as well as an SDS for every lot.

Barite Product Overview

Barite is a natural barium sulfate (BaSO4) mineral with a high specific gravity of about 4.2–4.4. It is chemically inert and insoluble. Türkiye is a significant barite producer.

In addition, oil and gas service companies use API-grade material to increase drilling mud density and control well pressure, which is its largest use worldwide. Similarly, paint, plastic and rubber producers use micronized grades as a dense, inert filler, brake pad producers use it in friction materials, and producers of radiation shielding use it in heavy concrete. Synthetic precipitated grades, with higher purity and whiteness, are available as Barium Sulfate.

Notably, related minerals in our range include Celestite (Strontium Sulfate) and Barium Carbonate.

Key Applications of Barite

Typical uses include, for example:

🛢️ Drilling Fluids

API weighting agent.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the API grade?

Barite meeting the API 13A density and particle size specification for drilling fluids.

How does it differ from precipitated barium sulfate?

It is the natural mineral; precipitated barium sulfate is synthetic, purer and whiter.

How can I get a price and documents?

We supply flexible quantities, from small orders to large volumes, so you do not need to meet the high minimum orders of large producers. Please contact us with your required volume, and we will send a quotation together with the CoA and SDS.
