Urea Product Overview
Urea (CH4N2O) is a white, odorless crystalline powder or prill that is very soluble in water. With a nitrogen content of about 46%, it is the most concentrated solid nitrogen source available. It melts at about 133°C and decomposes at higher temperatures, releasing ammonia.
Agriculture is the largest use of it, as a fertilizer applied alone or blended with sulfur sources such as Ammonium Sulfate. In industry, it reacts with formaldehyde to form urea-formaldehyde resins, the main binders in particleboard and MDF. It is also used as a non-protein nitrogen source in ruminant feed.
In cosmetics, it is valued as a humectant that helps the skin retain moisture, and it is used in creams and lotions together with Glycerine and Lactic acid. Cosmetic applications require a high-purity grade, which Zyntex supplies with full lot documentation.
