Neodymium Oxide Product Overview
Neodymium(III) oxide (Nd2O3) is a light blue to lavender powder that is insoluble in water and dissolves in acids. It slowly absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide from the air.
The largest use is as the raw material for neodymium metal, which goes into neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) permanent magnets for electric vehicle motors, wind turbines, electronics and industrial drives; high-temperature grades also contain Dysprosium Oxide. Glass producers use it to make violet glasses and filters, and it is a dopant for neodymium lasers and a component in ceramic capacitors and catalysts.
