Description
Fluoroethylene Carbonate (FEC) (FEC, CAS 114435-02-8) is a key electrolyte additive and co-solvent for lithium-ion cells, especially those with silicon-containing anodes. Zyntex is a wholesale supplier and distributor of battery-grade Fluoroethylene Carbonate with min. 99.9% purity and very low water content, with a CoA as well as an SDS for every lot.

Fluoroethylene Carbonate Product Overview

Fluoroethylene carbonate (C3H3FO3) is a clear, colorless liquid or low-melting solid (about 18–23°C). It is the fluorinated derivative of Ethylene Carbonate and is reduced earlier than other electrolyte components during the first charge.

In addition, electrolyte producers add it at about 1–10%, together with Vinylene Carbonate, to form a thin, flexible, LiF-rich protective layer (SEI) on graphite and especially on silicon anodes, which expand strongly during cycling. This improves cycle life and efficiency in high-energy cells for electric vehicles and electronics. It is used with salts such as Lithium Hexafluorophosphate.

Notably, battery grades are specified by purity, water content, acidity and color. Related electrolyte materials in our range include Dimethyl Carbonate and Ethyl Methyl Carbonate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is FEC important for silicon anodes?

It forms a flexible, LiF-rich protective layer that copes with the strong expansion of silicon.

How much FEC is added?

Typically about 1–10%, depending on the anode and cell design.

How can I get a price and documents?

We supply flexible quantities, from small orders to large volumes, so you do not need to meet the high minimum orders of large producers. Please contact us with your required volume, and we will send a quotation together with the CoA and SDS.
