Dabigatran Etexilate Product Overview
Dabigatran etexilate is a double prodrug: after oral intake, two ester groups are removed and the active substance dabigatran (C25H25N7O3, CAS 211914-51-1) is formed. The commercial API is the mesylate salt of the etexilate (the free base has CAS 211915-06-9), a yellow-white to yellow powder.
Pharmaceutical companies use it in hard capsules containing pellets. Because absorption needs an acidic environment, the pellets are built around a core of Tartaric Acid, which is a characteristic feature of the formulation. Other anticoagulant APIs in our range include Warfarin sodium.
