d-Phenothrin Product Overview
d-Phenothrin is the 3-phenoxybenzyl ester of chrysanthemic acid, enriched in the insecticidally active (1R)-isomers. It is a pale yellow to yellow-brown viscous liquid that is practically insoluble in water and mixes easily with hydrocarbon solvents. Its strong knockdown of flying insects and low toxicity to mammals make it a standard active ingredient in aerosols.
Formulators use it in household aerosols against flies and mosquitoes, in public health space sprays, in aircraft disinsection products, and in pet shampoos and sprays. It is often combined with Piperonyl butoxide (PBO) as a synergist and with fast-knockdown pyrethroids such as Tetramethrin or Prallethrin.
