Description
Piperonyl Butoxide (PBO, CAS 51-03-6) is the most widely used insecticide synergist, combined with pyrethrins and pyrethroids to increase their effectiveness. Zyntex is a wholesale supplier and distributor of technical-grade Piperonyl Butoxide, with a CoA and SDS for every lot.

Piperonyl Butoxide Product Overview

Piperonyl butoxide (C19H30O5) is a pale yellow to light brown oily liquid. It does not dissolve in water but mixes with oils and organic solvents. On its own it has little insecticidal activity.

PBO works by blocking the enzymes (cytochrome P450) that insects use to break down insecticides. As a result, the insecticide stays active for longer and smaller doses achieve the same effect, which also helps manage insect resistance. Formulators combine it with natural pyrethrins and with pyrethroids such as D-Phenothrin, Tetramethrin, Prallethrin and Cypermethrin.

Typical products include household aerosols, mosquito and fly sprays, public health and vector control products, stored-product protection, veterinary sprays and shampoos, and some agricultural formulations. Registration rules for synergists and insecticide products depend on the country.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does PBO increase insecticide performance?

It inhibits the enzymes insects use to detoxify insecticides, so pyrethrins and pyrethroids remain active longer and work at lower doses.

Which grades do you supply?

Technical grades with at least 94% and at least 98% purity are available. Please state the grade when requesting a quote.

How can I get a price and documents?

Prices depend on quantity, packaging and destination. Contact us with your required volume to receive a quotation together with the CoA and SDS.
