D-Allethrin Product Overview
D-Allethrin (C19H26O3) is a clear yellow to amber viscous liquid that is insoluble in water and mixes with organic solvents and kerosene. Allethrin, introduced in 1949, was the first synthetic pyrethroid; the d-form is enriched in the insecticidally active isomers.
Formulators use it mainly in heat-activated products, such as mosquito coils, electric mats and liquid vaporizers, and in household aerosols for flying insects. It is often combined with faster-acting Prallethrin or Tetramethrin, slower-killing pyrethroids and the synergist Piperonyl butoxide (PBO). A more refined isomer mixture is available as D-trans-allethrin.
