Description
Crospovidone (cross-linked polyvinylpyrrolidone, CAS 25249-54-1) is a superdisintegrant and stabilizer used in tablets, capsules and orally disintegrating tablets. Zyntex is a wholesale supplier and distributor of USP/NF and EP-grade Crospovidone in standard and fine particle grades, with a CoA as well as an SDS for every lot.

Crospovidone Product Overview

Crospovidone is a white to creamy-white, free-flowing powder that is insoluble in water. Unlike Povidone (PVP K30), it is cross-linked, so it swells and wicks water rapidly without forming a gel, which breaks tablets apart quickly.

In addition, pharmaceutical and nutritional producers use it at about 2–5% as a disintegrant in tablets made by direct compression or granulation, and in orally disintegrating tablets. Similarly, beverage producers use special grades to remove polyphenols from beer and wine. Fine grades suit small tablets and ODTs, whereas coarse grades act fastest in larger tablets.

Notably, related excipients in our range include Croscarmellose Sodium, Sodium Starch Glycolate and Microcrystalline Cellulose (MCC).

Frequently Asked Questions

How does crospovidone differ from povidone?

It is cross-linked and insoluble, so it acts as a disintegrant rather than a binder.

How does it compare with croscarmellose?

Both are superdisintegrants; crospovidone swells without gelling and suits ODTs well.

How can I get a price and documents?

We supply flexible quantities, from small orders to large volumes, so you do not need to meet the high minimum orders of large producers. Please contact us with your required volume, and we will send a quotation together with the CoA and SDS.
