Description
Povidone (PVP K30) (polyvinylpyrrolidone, PVP K30, CAS 9003-39-8) is a water-soluble polymer used as a tablet binder, solubilizer and film former in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and technical applications. Zyntex is a wholesale supplier and distributor of USP/EP-grade Povidone in K30 and other K-values, in flexible quantities, with a CoA as well as an SDS for every lot.

Povidone Product Overview

Povidone is a white to yellowish-white, hygroscopic powder that dissolves easily in water and alcohols. Its K-value describes the molecular weight; K30 is the most widely used grade, whereas K12–K17 suit injections and K90 gives high viscosity.

In addition, pharmaceutical companies use K30 as a binder in wet granulation, as a solubilizer and crystallization inhibitor in solid dispersions, and in eye drops and topical solutions. It also forms complexes with iodine in povidone-iodine antiseptics. Similarly, cosmetic producers use it as a film former in hair styling products, and technical users use it in adhesives, inks and membranes.

Notably, related excipients in our range include Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC), Microcrystalline Cellulose (MCC) and Croscarmellose Sodium.

Key Applications of Povidone

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the K-value mean?

It describes the molecular weight; K30 is the standard binder grade, whereas higher K-values give more viscosity.

Is it used in antiseptics?

Yes. It forms povidone-iodine, a widely used antiseptic complex.

How can I get a price and documents?

We supply flexible quantities, from small orders to large volumes, so you do not need to meet the high minimum orders of large producers. Please contact us with your required volume, and we will send a quotation together with the CoA and SDS.
