Copper Sulfate Product Overview
Anhydrous copper(II) sulfate (CuSO4) is a grayish-white powder. When it absorbs water, it turns into the familiar bright blue pentahydrate (CAS 7758-99-8). Laboratories use this color change to detect water. Both forms dissolve well in water.
In agriculture, it is the active ingredient of Bordeaux mixture and other copper fungicides used against fungal diseases in vineyards and orchards. Feed producers add it to premixes as a trace mineral source of copper. Mining companies use it as an activator in the flotation of zinc and other sulfide ores.
