3-Pyridinium Propanesulfonate Product Overview
3-Pyridinium propanesulfonate (1-(3-sulfopropyl)pyridinium hydroxide inner salt, C8H11NO3S) is a white to off-white crystalline powder that dissolves easily in water. Its molecule carries both a positive pyridinium charge and a negative sulfonate group.
In addition, in bright nickel plating, it acts as a secondary brightener and leveler. Small amounts in Watts baths based on Nickel Sulfate, Nickel(II) chloride 6-hydrate and Boric Acid give bright, level deposits with good ductility, and it works well together with saccharin-type primary brighteners. It also appears in other electroplating processes and as an intermediate for specialty chemicals.
