Phenobarbital (CAS 50-06-6), a barbiturate antiepileptic API controlled under Schedule IV of the UN 1971 Convention. Supplied by Zyntex exclusively to licensed pharmaceutical and veterinary companies with valid permits.
Phenobarbital (C12H12N2O3) is a white crystalline powder that is very slightly soluble in water and melts at about 174–178°C. For injections, producers also use its sodium salt.
For example, licensed pharmaceutical companies use it in tablets, oral solutions and injections for epilepsy, and it remains on the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines because it is effective and affordable. Similarly, veterinary producers use it for epilepsy in dogs. It appears in Schedule IV of the UN Convention on Psychotropic Substances of 1971, so every transaction requires valid import and export authorizations.
Zyntex therefore does not sell it to individuals or unlicensed companies. Related APIs in our range also include Methyl phenobarbital, which converts to it in the body, and the non-controlled antiepileptics Levetiracetam and Lamotrigine.
Typical uses include, for example:
💊 Tablets
API for licensed antiepileptic tablets.
💉 Injections
Sodium salt for licensed injections.
🐕 Veterinary Products
API for licensed products for dogs.
