Nystatin Product Overview
Nystatin is a polyene macrolide produced by fermentation with Streptomyces noursei. It is a yellow to light tan, hygroscopic powder that is practically insoluble in water and sensitive to light, heat and moisture. Its strength is expressed in international units, with a minimum of about 4400 IU/mg.
Because it is hardly absorbed from the gut or skin, it acts locally.
