Description
Kojic Acid (CAS 501-30-4) is a fungal-derived brightening ingredient used in skin care products, soaps and creams, and as an antioxidant in some applications. Zyntex is a wholesale supplier and distributor of cosmetic-grade Kojic Acid and Kojic Acid Dipalmitate, with a CoA as well as an SDS for every lot.

Kojic Acid Product Overview

Kojic acid (C6H6O4) is a white to off-white crystalline powder that dissolves in water and ethanol. Producers make it by fermentation with Aspergillus species, and it reduces melanin formation in the skin.

In addition, cosmetic producers use it in brightening creams, serums, lotions and especially soaps, typically at about 1–2%, within the limits set by cosmetic regulations in each market. Because it can discolor in light and air, many formulators prefer its more stable ester, kojic acid dipalmitate, in creams. Similarly, it is often combined with Alpha Arbutin and Nicotinamide (Vitamin B3).

Notably, related brightening ingredients in our range include Tranexamic Acid and Ascorbyl Palmitate.
