Cadmium Metal Product Overview
Cadmium (Cd) is a soft, silvery-blue metal that melts at about 321°C and has a density of 8.65 g/cm³. It is also available in purities of 99.9% to 99.99% as ingots, sticks, granules and powder.
However, its remaining uses are specialized: high-purity cadmium is the raw material for Cadmium telluride thin-film solar cells and radiation detectors, and for Cadmium sulfide. Similarly, it serves in nickel–cadmium batteries where still permitted, in low-melting and bearing alloys, in cadmium plating for some aerospace applications, and in neutron-absorbing control materials. In the EU, cadmium remains restricted under REACH Annex XVII and in electronics under RoHS.
