EU Natural Benzaldehyde (CAS 100-52-7, FEMA 2127) with ≥99.0% GC assay, supplied wholesale by Zyntex. Bitter almond aroma chemical for flavors, fragrances and fine chemical synthesis. Every lot ships with CoA and SDS.
Benzaldehyde (C7H6O) is a clear, colorless to pale yellow liquid with a strong bitter almond odor. It is only slightly soluble in water and fully miscible with ethanol and most organic solvents. Its taste and odor are the foundation of almond, cherry, marzipan and amaretto flavors, and it appears as a flavoring substance under FEMA number 2127.
In addition, the natural grade comes from natural raw materials, most commonly from the cinnamaldehyde in cassia oil. This route allows it to be declared as a natural flavoring under EU Regulation (EC) No 1334/2008. Buyers who use benzaldehyde purely as a chemical intermediate can also request a quotation for synthetic grade.
Furthermore, in organic synthesis, it is a versatile starting material. Condensation reactions convert it into Cinnamic Aldehyde and Cinnamic Acid, while reduction gives benzyl alcohol. It also helps to make mandelic acid, triphenylmethane dyes and various pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediates.
It slowly oxidizes to Benzoic Acid when exposed to air, which lowers the assay over time. For this reason it requires storage in full, tightly closed containers, ideally under nitrogen. Zyntex supplies it in sealed original packaging from qualified producers and can share lot-specific documentation before you order.
Typical uses include, for example:
🥗 Flavors
Key ingredient for almond, cherry, marzipan and amaretto flavors used in confectionery, bakery products, beverages as well as liqueurs.
🧴 Fragrances
Adds almond, cherry and heliotrope-like nuances to fine fragrances, soaps as well as household products, usually at low levels.
💊 Fine Chemical Synthesis
Starting material for cinnamic acid, cinnamaldehyde, mandelic acid, benzyl alcohol derivatives as well as pharmaceutical intermediates.
🏭 Dyes and Agrochemicals
Reagent in the production of triphenylmethane dyes as well as selected agrochemical intermediates.

⚠️ Safety & Handling: Harmful if swallowed; may irritate the eyes, skin and respiratory tract. Combustible liquid: keep away from heat, sparks and open flames. Benzaldehyde oxidizes on contact with air, so keep containers tightly closed, preferably under nitrogen, in a cool, dark and well-ventilated area. Wear suitable gloves and eye protection when handling. Always consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS), because it contains the full classification and handling instructions.
Is this product natural or synthetic?
This product is EU Natural grade, obtained from natural raw materials. Synthetic grade for industrial synthesis are available on request.
Why does benzaldehyde sometimes form white crystals?
The crystals are benzoic acid, formed when it reacts with oxygen in the air. Keeping containers full, tightly closed and under nitrogen prevents this.
How can I get a price and documents?
Prices depend on quantity, packaging and destination, so please contact us with your required volume. We then send a quotation together with the CoA and SDS.
