Artesunate (C19H28O8) is a white crystalline powder. It is the hemisuccinate ester of dihydroartemisinin, which makes it soluble in alkaline solutions and therefore suitable for injection. Its active core comes from Artemisinin, which producers extract from Artemisia annua.
