Description
Yttrium(III) Oxide (yttria, Y2O3, CAS 1314-36-9) is a rare earth oxide used to stabilize zirconia and in phosphors, lasers, transparent ceramics and superconductors. Zyntex is a wholesale supplier and distributor of Yttrium Oxide in 99.9% to 99.999% purity, with a CoA as well as an SDS for every lot.

Yttrium(III) Oxide Product Overview

Yttrium(III) oxide (Y2O3) is a fine white powder that melts at about 2,425°C and is insoluble in water. It is one of the most thermally stable oxides and dissolves in acids.

In addition, the largest use is in yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ), where a few percent of yttria stabilize Zirconium dioxide for dental crowns, thermal barrier coatings, oxygen sensors and solid oxide fuel cell electrolytes. Similarly, phosphor producers use high-purity yttria as the host for red europium-doped phosphors, and laser producers use it for yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG) crystals.

In addition, yttria serves as a sintering aid for Silicon nitride and Aluminum nitride ceramics, and as a raw material for YBCO superconductors and transparent ceramics. Related rare earth oxides in our range also include Europium Oxide and Gadolinium Oxide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is yttria added to zirconia?

Because it stabilizes the tetragonal or cubic crystal structure of zirconia, it makes the ceramic tough and prevents cracking during temperature changes.

Which purities do you supply?

Purities from 99.9% for ceramics up to 99.999% for phosphors, lasers as well as research are available.

How can I get a price and documents?

Prices depend on quantity, packaging and destination, so please contact us with your required volume. We then send a quotation together with the CoA and SDS.
