Ammonium Molybdate tetrahydrate (CAS 12027-67-7), min. 81% MoO3, supplied wholesale by Zyntex. Water-soluble molybdenum source for hydrotreating catalysts, micronutrient fertilizers, corrosion inhibitors and phosphate analysis. CoA and SDS.
Ammonium molybdate usually comes as ammonium heptamolybdate tetrahydrate ((NH4)6Mo7O24·4H2O, CAS 12054-85-2), a white to slightly greenish crystalline powder that dissolves easily in water. It also contains at least 81% molybdenum trioxide (MoO3).
Catalyst producers use it to impregnate supports for cobalt-molybdenum and nickel-molybdenum hydrotreating catalysts, which refineries then activate with sulfiding agents such as Dimethyl Disulfide. Similarly, fertilizer producers use it as a soluble molybdenum source for legumes and brassicas, and water treatment companies add it to corrosion inhibitor packages.
Furthermore, in laboratories, it is the classic reagent for phosphate and silicate determination. It also serves as a raw material for molybdenum pigments, ceramics and high-purity molybdenum metal. Related molybdenum compounds in our range also include Molybdic acid and Molybdenum(VI) oxide.
Typical uses include, for example:
⚗️ Catalysts
Molybdenum source for hydrotreating catalysts.
🌱 Fertilizers

⚠️ Safety & Handling: May cause skin, eye and respiratory irritation. Avoid dust formation and also wear gloves, eye protection and dust protection. Store in tightly closed containers in a cool, dry place, so that the crystals do not lose water. Always consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS), because it contains the full classification and handling instructions.
Which molybdenum content does ammonium molybdate have?
The tetrahydrate contains at least 81% MoO3, which corresponds to about 54% molybdenum.
Is ammonium molybdate used in fertilizers?
Yes. Because it dissolves easily, it serves as a molybdenum micronutrient in foliar sprays as well as seed treatments.
