Molybdic Acid Product Overview
Molybdic acid is a hydrated form of molybdenum trioxide, often written as H2MoO4 or MoO3·H2O. It is a white to pale yellow crystalline powder that dissolves only slightly in water but readily in alkaline solutions and ammonia, where it forms molybdate salts.
Chemical producers use it as a starting material for ammonium and sodium molybdates and for molybdenum catalysts used in refining and in the oxidation of hydrocarbons. Pigment producers use it for molybdate orange and corrosion-inhibiting molybdate pigments. In agriculture, molybdates made from it supply molybdenum, an essential micronutrient for legumes and other crops.
