Praziquantel Product Overview
Praziquantel (C19H24N2O2) is a white or almost white crystalline powder with a bitter taste. It is very slightly soluble in water and freely soluble in ethanol. The commercial grade is a racemic mixture.
Veterinary producers use it in dewormer tablets, chewables, pastes and spot-on products for dogs, cats and horses, often combined with other anthelmintics such as pyrantel, febantel or Ivermectin to cover both tapeworms and roundworms. Its bitter taste makes taste masking an important part of formulation.
