Nano Calcium Carbonate Product Overview
Nano precipitated calcium carbonate (CaCO3) consists of primary particles of about 15–80 nm, far smaller than ordinary ground or precipitated Calcium carbonate. Producers make it by carbonating lime under controlled conditions and usually coat it with stearic acid or other fatty acids to make it compatible with polymers.
In rigid PVC profiles and pipes, nano calcium carbonate improves impact strength and surface finish and can partly replace impact modifiers. In silicone, polyurethane and MS polymer sealants and adhesives, it gives thixotropy, so the product stays in place without sagging, and it reinforces the cured material. Ink, paint and rubber producers use it to improve gloss, rheology and mechanical properties.
It is often combined with other functional fillers and pigments such as Titanium dioxide, Talc and Barium sulfate.
