Magnesium Trisilicate Product Overview
Magnesium trisilicate is a fine white powder with at least 20% MgO and 45% SiO2. It is practically insoluble in water and reacts slowly with acid, which gives a gentle and prolonged neutralizing effect.
In addition, pharmaceutical companies use it in antacid tablets and oral suspensions, usually together with Aluminum Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide. Similarly, food producers use magnesium silicates as anticaking agents (E553a) within the limits set by regulations, and industrial users use it as an adsorbent and filtration aid, for example in purifying frying oils.
