Description
Magnesium Fluoride (MgF2, CAS 7783-40-6) is an optical material used in anti-reflection coatings, UV and IR optics and ceramics. Zyntex is a wholesale supplier and distributor of Magnesium Fluoride in 99.9% to 99.99% purity, as powder and evaporation granules, with a CoA as well as an SDS for every lot.

Magnesium Fluoride Product Overview

Magnesium fluoride (MgF2) is a white powder or crystal that is insoluble in water and melts at about 1,263°C. It has a low refractive index (about 1.38) and is transparent from the deep ultraviolet to the mid-infrared.

In addition, optical coating producers evaporate it as the classic single-layer anti-reflection coating on lenses and as a low-index layer in multilayer coatings. Similarly, optics producers use MgF2 crystals for UV windows and lenses, and ceramic and metallurgy users use it as a flux and in specialty ceramics.

Notably, related optical materials in our range include Yttrium Fluoride, Calcium Fluoride and Hafnium Oxide.

Key Applications of Magnesium Fluoride

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is MgF2 used on lenses?

Its low refractive index makes it ideal for single-layer anti-reflection coatings.

Which forms do you supply?

Powder and evaporation granules in 3N to 4N purity.

How can I get a price and documents?

We supply flexible quantities, from small orders to large volumes, so you do not need to meet the high minimum orders of large producers. Please contact us with your required volume, and we will send a quotation together with the CoA and SDS.
