Brown HT Product Overview
Brown HT, also called chocolate brown HT, is the disodium salt of a bis-azo dye. It is a reddish-brown powder or granulate that dissolves easily in water and glycerol and is stable to heat and light, with a pure dye content of at least 85%.
Food producers use it to give chocolate-brown shades to cakes, biscuits, desserts, chocolate-flavored products and sauces. It is approved in the EU under E number E155 with specific maximum levels, and in some other countries, but it is not permitted as a food color in the United States. Cosmetic formulators use cosmetic-grade material in some products.
