Description
Cerium(III) Fluoride (CeF3, CAS 7758-88-5) is a rare earth fluoride used in optical coatings, scintillator crystals, carbon arc electrodes and fluoride glasses. Zyntex is a wholesale supplier and distributor of high-purity anhydrous Cerium(III) fluoride, with a CoA and SDS for every lot.

Cerium(III) Fluoride Product Overview

Cerium(III) fluoride (CeF3) is a white powder that does not dissolve in water. It has a refractive index of about 1.63 and transmits well from the ultraviolet to the infrared.

Optical coating producers evaporate it to form durable layers in antireflection and filter coatings. Single crystals of CeF3 are fast, dense scintillators used in high-energy physics detectors. It is also a traditional additive in carbon arc electrodes for bright light sources and is used in fluoride glasses and as a polishing component.

For related cerium compounds, see Cerium Oxide and Cerium Nitrate Hexahydrate; for other fluorides, see Lanthanum(III) fluoride and Zirconium fluoride.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which forms do you supply?

Powder and evaporation granules or pieces for coating are available. Please state form and purity when requesting a quote.

Which purity do I need for optical coatings?

Optical coatings usually use 99.9% to 99.99% material in granular form. Scintillator growth requires the highest purity.

How can I get a price and documents?

Prices depend on quantity, packaging and destination. Contact us with your required volume to receive a quotation together with the CoA and SDS.
